MEC, a leading media agency, has created a new creative director role to inspire and promote creative thinking and original approaches throughout the agency.

Ann Wixley will be MEC's first-ever creative director and in this new role she will be responsible for directing creativity across the entire business. Wixley joined MEC in 2007 as Activation Director of MEC Access (www.mecaccess.com), the leading partnership marketing agency specialising in sport, entertainment and cause.

As creative director Wixley will help evolve MEC's integrated offering, focusing on an ideas-led approach supported by consumer insight, media and content. In her new role, Wixley will bring together MEC's teams and skills across the agency to inspire and empower engaging solutions that ultimately generate additional revenue for clients and MEC. Wixley will be building on the foundation that has already garnered MEC multiple awards over the last two years.

Wixley came to MEC UK from Nota Bene, the South African communications and strategy agency owned by MEC, where she headed up their non-traditional activation business. At MEC Access, Wixley was a driving force behind the creation of Morrisons' award-winning Let's Grow campaign.

Ann Wixley, creative director, MEC, said: "I believe that media agencies have some of the best ingredients for developing ground-breaking behaviour-changing ideas. I am inspired by the huge opportunity that MEC's expertise and our clients' brands offer to deliver ideas that can really engage people. I hope to play a valuable part in fulfilling this potential, and to have a lot of fun with all the brilliant creative brains here in the process."

Steve Hatch, managing director, MEC adds: "When you meet Ann it becomes immediately clear that she has a fantastically rich understanding of people and business, and does not allow herself to be constrained by ‘the way things have always been done'. Ann's role at MEC will be to help inspire the agency to apply our creativity in new, challenging ways for our clients and I have no doubt that more groundbreaking innovations are on the horizon."
